The Trust in Lockdown

The Trust in Lockdown

Having built up some momentum during the latter part of 2019, 2020 was going to be the year in which the new Tooley’s Boatyard Trust would launch both fundraising and new projects. The volunteers and supporters were gathered together mid February to start planning the new season after the winter. Nobody knew what was going to happen next.

As a result of the of Coronavirus pandemic, on 23 March the government announced the lockdown. All but essential workers were ordered to stay at home.

Tooley’s Boatyard had to close and customers with bookings for the dock lost their places in the programme. The photo of the dock full of water, with the dock doors closed and no boats is a rare sight.

The Trust hope to become active in 2020 as lockdown restrictions are eased, but many of the plans will be deferred into 2021 from the end of winter period.

We hope our many supporters stay safe and will come back to join us as soon as possible.
