Echoes of the past, written by Matthew Armitage, is the story of Ghostly goings-on at Tooley’s Dock.
The Dry Dock at Tooley’s Boatyard is approaching its 250th anniversary and many people long gone (but not forgotten) spent their working lives here. Their ghosts now appear to be returning to help and sometimes guide the modern day workers.
The story is presented in a booklet on sale at Tooley’s Boatyard, price £5. It is part of a fundraising effort to help support the dock through a period when the canal is seriously affected by a shortage of water. This is preventing access for boats needing to be worked on and a loss of business.
